Aaron Judge begged Yankees not to put him on injured list

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge was placed on the 10-day injured list last week with a mild calf strain, and he wasn't too happy about it.

Judge said he begged the Yankees not to put him on the IL, according to James Wagner of The New York Times, and to instead let him rest for a few days in order to avoid it.

According to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, Judge feels like he could play on Sunday against the Boston Red Sox.

The 28-year-old said he thinks the calf injury occurred due to wear and tear from using cleats on the turf at Tropicana Field. He noted he'll be using cleats while batting and sneakers while fielding moving forward, according to Wagner.

Before being put on the IL, the two-time All-Star was slashing .290/.343/.758 with nine home runs and 20 RBI's in 62 plate appearances.

While it seems like Judge will be back soon, the Yankees are dealing with injuries throughout their lineup. New York recently placed both Giancarlo Stanton and D.J. LeMahieu on the IL.
