Adolis García and the Texas Rangers have agreed to a two-year, $14 million contract, according to multiple reports.
The Rangers All-Star right fielder was set for an arbitration hearing on Thursday. The deal, which has yet to be officially announced by the club, means García won't be arbitration-eligible until 2026, the final year he's under Rangers' control.
According to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand, the deal includes escalators that could balloon García's salary to 20.25, including MVP votes, plate appearances, and All-MLB Team selections.
García, who turns 31 on March 2, hit a career-high 39 home runs and 107 RBI while helping the Rangers win their first World Series championship. He earned American Championship Series MVP honors and batted .323 with eight home runs and 22 RBIs in 15 postseason games in 2023.
García was the only arbitration-eligible player the Rangers didn't settle nearly a month ago. García requested $6.9 million. The Rangers offered $5 million.
"Everybody knows the situation we’re in. Right now, we’re waiting on the hearing that’s coming," García said before the team's awards dinner at Globe Life Field on Jan. 27.
García has 97 homers, 90 doubles, and 299 RBI in his past three seasons with the Rangers. He won a Gold Glove for his defensive play in right field and earned his second All-Star Game appearance in 2023.
The Rangers purchased García from the St. Louis Cardinals on Dec. 21, 2019.
