Albert Pujols hits and pitches in Cardinals' 15-6 thrashing of Giants

It appears Albert Pujols can do it all.

Pujols had a hand in the St. Louis Cardinals' 15-6 win over the San Francisco Giants on Sunday night, both at the plate and on the mound.

Pujols was in the starting lineup as the Cardinals' designated hitter, going 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two walks.

With the Cardinals up 15-2, they decided to give their bullpen a rest and put the 42-year-old Pujols on the mound to pitch the ninth inning.

Pujols allowed two home runs and four earned runs off three hits to the Giants. While it wasn't a sparkling pitching debut, the Cardinals did hold on for the win.

Coming into Sunday's contest, Pujols was batting .209, with a .333 on-base percentage and a .372 slugging percentage. In 51 plate appearances, Pujols has nine hits, two home runs, five RBIs and six walks.

Pujols ranks second all-time in Cardinals' history in RBIs (1,334) and fourth in hits (2,983).

In 22 MLB seasons, the future hall of famer is third all-time in RBIs (2,1556) and fifth in home runs (681)
