Analyst: Stats show Yankees' Aaron Judge isn't pressing amid home run chase

Multiple MLB insiders said earlier this week that they believed New York Yankees All-Star slugger Aaron Judge was "wearing down a bit" and even "pressing" amid his attempt to at least match the American League single-season record of 61 home runs set by Yankees legend Roger Maris in 1961.

Judge remains on 60 homers for the campaign and now hasn't gone deep in seven consecutive games and since last Tuesday. He has, however, still been reaching base, and Kevin Skiver of the Sporting News argued the 30-year-old has merely been showing impressive patience at the plate since Sept. 20.

"Judge's walk rate since his last home run is now 39 percent (12 walks in 31 appearances), a far cry from his 16 percent rate this season," Skiver noted. Judge walked four times in Tuesday's 5-2 win at the Toronto Blue Jays that clinched the AL East title for the Yankees.

"His strikeout rate is 26 percent, just a tick up from his 25 percent K-rate on the season," Skiver added. Skiver also mentioned that Judge appeared downright frustrated with himself when he chased a pitch out of the strike zone that he fouled off during his final at-bat of Tuesday's contest.

This isn't to say those close to Judge, such as his mother and teammates like Nestor Cortes, aren't growing impatient waiting for the four-time All-Star selection to hit two more home runs before the regular season concludes on Oct. 5:

Judge has eight games left to make history, beginning with the Wednesday evening matchup in Toronto.
