As the Angels head into the offseason, one of the biggest orders of business is who they will hire as their new manager. The team decided to let go of Phil Nevin after another poor season, and now they will be on the search for their fifth manager since 2018.

That isn’t great job turnover, and it could make hiring a new leader more of a challenge than it would have been. It also doesn’t help that General Manager Perry Minasian is entering the year in his final year, so it could be tough to sell the position to prospective candidates.

However, it seems that former New York Mets manager Buck Showalter is interested in the job. He has been linked to the Angels since he was let go, but it remains to be seen if the Angels would take a chance on him.

Minasian is a fan of Showalter and if he gets the final say, he will be the manager of the team next season.

Showalter could provide the team with a nice veteran voice in the clubhouse, even if the team goes into a transition year. It has been reported that owner Arte Moreno wants to field a competitive team next season, so Showalter could make some sense for the Halos.

No matter who the Angels hire, they need to get the hire correct. It has been a rough patch of years for this franchise, and they need to start trying to get themselves out of the mud.

The Halos can't afford to keep running the organization in the same manner they have for the last decade, otherwise, they will be stuck in mediocrity for the foreseeable future. This decision could impact them for the next few years if they were to make the wrong decision on the hire.
