Opening day for 28 teams is less than two weeks away and the reigning National League Cy Young winner remains unsigned. The Angels remain one of the teams involved in bringing in Blake Snell, but several other teams have shown interest as well.

In a recent article by Bob Nightengale of USA Today, he reports that the San Francisco Giants remain interested in Snell. However, they want Snell to lower his asking price before committing,

"The San Francisco Giants remain in the picture for Snell, but also are waiting for Snell to lower his demands, just as they did when they signed third baseman Matt Chapman to a three-year, $52 million contract with opt-outs after each year."

Last year, Snell had a 2.25 ERA with the San Diego Padres on his way to his second Cy Young award. However, it seems that his inning limitations have raised some red flags for potential suitors.

The southpaw has only met the 180-inning mark in a season twice in his career. Coincidentally, he won the Cy Young award in both of those seasons.

Along with the Giants, recent reports indicate that American League West rival Houston Astros have had more serious talks with Snell. However, those talks have also cooled after Snell would not drop his asking price of two years of $66 million.

Snell remains the biggest name in the free agency market. Wherever he goes will instantly have an upgraded starting rotation.
