Your Los Angeles Angels picked up a much-needed win on Monday morning after multiple rain delays, 5-4. Shohei Ohtani was on the hill for your Halos, which lasted only a short time due to an hour-plus rain delay. Nonetheless, the Halos were able to snap their three-game losing streak thanks to a fast start by the offense.

Angels reliever Tucker Davidson, who took the hill after Shohei, talked about how his team was able to gut out this win even with delay after delay.

“I think just after the past few days, we needed to win badly,” Davidson said. “For us to bear down and do it through a delay, another delay. Nobody wanted that. We really wanted to get into New York at 6 and have a night to ourselves. Go have a nice dinner. But sometimes you’ve got to deal with what you’re given and I think we did a good job of handling the adversity and just going out there and continuing to play.”

The offense exploded in the first inning thanks to a three-run bomb by Hunter Renfroe. Brandon Drury drove in the fourth run in the same inning, giving them some early cushion. Beyond the second inning, the Halos were unable to score another run. Luckily the defense held up and was able to still come out with the W.

After the game, Ohtani spoke about the challenges of the rain as it was pouring down prior to his start and the early start itself.

“More than the rain and all that, it was an early game,” Ohtani said through his interpreter. “That was the hardest part.”

Your Halos will now flip the page and try to go above .500 today as they take on the New York Yankees for a three-game series.
