The Los Angeles Angels have a young player making his mark in Spring Training this year in Nelson Rada. The 17-year-old is getting the opportunity to gain experience in the major leagues this spring, and enjoying his time.

“I’m very motivated. I’ve been having great at-bats, and I want to continue to have great at-bats. I’m getting a lot of experience and I’m really happy and fortunate to be here. I can’t wait to keep playing.”

— Nelson Rada said through an interpreter, via Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com.

Though Rada is still quite young, he doesn't believe his age limits his abilities. Rada is already a strong defender in center field and talented at stealing bases, which will only work to his advantage as he strives to make the major leagues in the upcoming years.

“Age is just a number. I just know I can do my job wherever they put me.”

Rada showed this during his time in Single-A action a year ago, hitting two home runs and 48 runs batted in while stealing 55 bases in 115 games. Through Spring Training action so far, Rada has seen six at-bats. In those opportunities, Rada has recorded two hits and two runs batted in while stealing three bases.
