At this point, it is no secret what Los Angeles Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani can do.

In the early stages of his career, he has constantly drawn comparisons to the great Babe Ruth.

Being able to pitch and hit effectively at the Major League level is something that is rarely seen these days.

Prior to Ohtani, the only player that came anywhere close was Rick Ankiel.

But Ohtani has once again accomplished something that is incredibly rare.

On MLB Network, several teams’ 30 home run and 90 RBI hitters were listed in addition to a pitcher with a sub-2.50 ERA.

For the Angels, Ohtani checked both boxes.

Ohtani’s Rare Feat

The right-hander posted a 15-9 record with a 2.33 ERA in 28 starts during the 2022 season.

At the plate, Ohtani once again put up MVP-caliber numbers, hitting .273 with 34 homers, 95 RBI, and 30 doubles.

Ohtani also had 11 stolen bases and 304 total bases.

The two-way phenom is also once again a candidate for the American League MVP Award, which will be revealed tonight on MLB Network.

While Aaron Judge is the favorite to win, Ohtani still has a chance to potentially repeat in that category.

As usual though, any feat performed by Ohtani simply feels impossible to match.

To hit 30 home runs, drive in 90 runs, and post an ERA below 2.50 in the very same season is unheard of, but it stands to reason why Ohtani still has a chance to take home the MVP Award tonight.

Judge is certainly the favorite, but Ohtani’s feat should not be overlooked.
