Improving to 2-1 in spring training, the Arizona Diamondbacks decisively handled the Chicago White Sox, securing a 5-0 victory.

Getting the start for Arizona was Slade Cecconi, a former 1st-round pick who made his major league debut last August. Cecconi struck out 4 batters, allowed zero hits, and walked one batter in his 2 innings of work.

Overall, the Diamondbacks’ pitching staff stifled the White Sox, allowing them only 2 hits, both of which came in the final two innings. Slade Cecconi, Humberto Castellanos, Luke Albright, and Austin Pope combined forces to deliver 7 no-hit innings.

On the offensive front, Ketel Marte led the charge for the D-backs with two hits from the leadoff spot. The Diamondbacks amassed 8 hits in the final 2 innings, concluding the afternoon with a total of 11 hits.

They seized the lead early with a Jake McCarthy ground ball to 2nd in the 3rd inning, driving in Marte.

Looking ahead, the Diamondbacks are set to face the Oakland Athletics tomorrow at 1:05 PM. The Athletics have started spring training with a 0-2 record.
