The Oakland A’s have claimed outfielder Miguel Andujar off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Meanwhile, left-hander Angel Perdomo was claimed off waivers by the Atlanta Braves.

Both players were placed on waivers by the Pirates late last week, along with right-handed pitcher Yerry De Los Santos. De Los Santos passed through waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Andujar was claimed off waivers by the Pirates from the New York Yankees towards the end of the 2022 season. He appeared in 39 games with the Pirates between 2022-23 and combined to hit .250 with a .742 OPS and four home runs, all of which came this season. He recorded 10 doubles and drove in 27 runs while with Pittsburgh.

The 28-year-old put up video-game like numbers with Triple-A Indianapolis this past season. He hit .338 with 30 doubles, 16 home runs and 86 RBIs in 103 games played with the Pirates’ top minor league affiliate.

Andujar is arbitration-eligible again this offseason and is projected to earn a $2.2 million salary for the 2024 season.

Perdomo pitched well for the Pirates this season prior to a season-ending arm injury in August. In 30 appearances out of the bullpen, the left-hander went 3-2 with a 3.72 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 29.0 innings.

Perdomo’s injury resulted in Tommy John surgery and he will miss the entire 2024 season.

Additionally, the Pirates activated shortstop Oneil Cruz and right-handed pitcher JT Brubaker from the 60-day injured list. Cruz missed the majority of the season after fracturing his left ankle and Brubaker missed the entire year and will be sidelined to start 2024 after undergoing Tommy John. The deadline to activate players from the 60-day IL was on Monday.

With the roster moves, Pittsburgh’s 40-man roster now stands at 37 players as free agency officially opens up.
