A's fan nailed prediction of what team would give Tigers legend for retirement gift

Detroit Tigers legend Miguel Cabrera has received some lavish gifts from across MLB during his 2023 retirement tour.

Earlier this week, the former Triple Crown received a Hollywood star from the Los Angeles Dodgers and the next day, A's fan Gabriel Hernandez made a prediction for what his favorite team would give Cabrera.

On Thursday night, Hernandez's forecast came true.

That's one fan who truly knows his team.

Unfortunately for Oakland, the decision drew some criticism and plenty of jokes on social media. Whether it was the lack of creativity in the gift compared to other teams, the low-price tag or slightly tone-deaf and/or ironic choice, the A's were again, making headlines for the wrong reasons on Thursday.

For what it's worth, there seemed to be some conflicting reports of whether the bottle of wine was a 2020 or 2021 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon. Either way, the price was listed somewhere around $80 or $90.

Though "Miggy" is one of the best right-handed hitters of all time and will easily be a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer, some may still remember that it was reported in January 2010 that he spent three months in an alcohol treatment center. Then in February 2011, Cabrera was arrested in Florida on suspicion of drunken driving and resisting arrest.

That case was eventually settled on a "no contest" plea to DUI and the resisting arrest charge was dropped.
