A's Ramon Laureano expected to receive 'lengthy suspension' following brawl with Astros
The Houston Astros aren't liked by many in Major League Baseball at the moment, and that was evident on Sunday.
During the Astros matchup against the Oakland Athletics, A's outfielder Ramon Laureano charged Houston's dugout after being hit by a pitch in two straight plate appearances. Laureano's charge toward the Astros dugout caused the benches to clear, and Major League Baseball isn't too happy about it.
According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, Laureano is expected to receive a "lengthy suspension" for charging the dugout and starting a brawl. Houston's hitting coach Alex Cintron, who is seen in the above video goading Laureano, is also expected to be suspended for provoking the brawl.
MLB is trying to prevent these types of situations from happening due to the coronavirus pandemic, so it's not surprising that both Laureano and Cintron will miss some time.
The league suspended Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Joe Kelly last month for eight games after he missed Alex Bregman's head with a pitch and taunted him after that.
With MLB not joking around about suspension, teams likely will begin to get their acts together if they want to keep playing baseball in 2020.
