A's Tony Kemp shares heartwarming card from seven-year-old fan

Only hours before his team was scheduled to host the Seattle Mariners on Thursday, Tony Kemp of the Oakland Athletics took to Twitter to share a heartwarming card he received from a young fan. Judging by the content of the note, it appears that Kemp has been holding onto the card for most, if not all of the 2022 season.

The 30-year-old infielder/outfielder spent the first three-plus seasons of his career with the Houston Astros, split the 2019 campaign between the Astros and Chicago Cubs and has been with the A's since the 2020 pandemic-altered season. In a career-high 457 at-bats over a career-high 135 games in 2022, Kemp slashed .239/.313/.331 with seven home runs and career highs in RBIs (44) and stolen bases (10) as well.

Not typically known for his prowess at the plate, the 2013 draft selection has found playing time over the years thanks to his ability to take the field at multiple positions and for his defense. During a game against the Detroit Tigers in early May, Kemp made a bid for web gem of the year with a diving catch while playing second base.

While he's only played second base (83 games) and left field (56 games) this year, Kemp has also made appearances in centerfield (49 games), right field (six games) and shortstop (one game) over his seven-year career.
