Astros activate right-hander Chris Devenski from injured list
The Houston Astros are getting a member of their pitching staff back on Friday.
According to MLB.com's Brian McTaggart, Houston activated Devenski from the injured list and optioned right-hander Joe Biagini to the club's alternate training site.
Devenski was placed on the IL last month with arm soreness and hasn't played since July 26 against the Seattle Mariners.
The 29-year-old is 0-1 on the season with a 13.50 ERA and 2.50 WHIP. Although he's struggled in 2020, it's hard to judge him off of just the two innings he pitched this year. In 2019, Devenski went 2-3 with a 4.83 ERA, 72 strikeouts and a 1.304 WHIP.
Biagini has pitched just 4.1 innings for the Astros this season. His 20.77 ERA and 3.23 WHIP are horrendous, so it's not a surprise to see him optioned to Houston's training site.
