Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman made a rather interesting grooming decision during Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Royals.

Bregman took his first at-bat of the day in the second inning with his usual mustache but was quite obviously clean-shaven when he made his next plate appearance in the fourth, prompting amusement and intrigue.

Bregman probably didn’t do it for luck. In the second, he walked and eventually scored on a Yuli Gurriel grand slam that capped off an eight-run inning. He flied out in the fourth, so there wasn’t really any mustache-related impact there.

In fact, the Astros have been hot, and Bregman has been a big part of it. Maybe he was just tired of it.
