The Houston Astros are locked into a divisional battle with the Texas Rangers, who have decided to go all in on this season. With the Rangers pulling off huge deals to add starting pitching, the Astros have been quiet compared to their instate rivals.

The front office landed Chicago White Sox closer Kendall Graveman and former member of the team during the 2021 season. They're still looking to add arms ahead of the trade deadline on Tuesday.

A name from Houston to keep an eye out for is outfielder Jake Meyers.

According to MLB.com, the Meyers is the Astros' top trade chip to deal before the deadline.

"Meyers appears to have fallen out of favor in Houston, sitting behind Corey Julks and Chas McCormick in the outfield mix. A strong defensive center fielder, Meyers could be used to address other needs on the Astros roster, as Houston’s farm system isn’t loaded with prospect capital to use in trades," writes Mark Feinsand.

General manager Dana Brown has previously said he would like to trade one of their existing outfielders to upgrade their roster.

Despite reports that Houston is no longer looking for starting pitching, others have also reported they're still holding conversations with the New York Mets to reunite with Justin Verlander.

With the Mets looking to sell off outfield parts of their own, getting back Meyers might be a good fit for their rebuilding timeline.

He is a proven major league player who has played three seasons in the MLB before turning 28. He'll also be under team control through 2027, so he's more attractive for teams not looking for rental players.

If the Astros continue adding players before the deadline, look for Meyers to be on his way out in a package.
