The Houston Astros are currently searching for a new general manager after the shocking dismissal of James Click.
Click had taken over GM duties after Jeff Luhnow was fired and suspended in the wake of the Astros sign-stealing scandal.
After the conclusion of the World Series, Click had been offered a one-year contract for 2023, which he turned down.
Shortly after voicing his displeasure with the situation, Astros owner Jim Crane chose to fire his general manager.
And so, the search is underway for a new GM.
Crane provided an update today, saying that the Astros will likely not have a new GM by January, but that he plans to have a new one by the beginning of spring training.

Click’s dismissal was a surprise to everybody around Major League Baseball.
After taking over GM duties in 2020, Click helped guide the Astros to three straight ALCS appearances and back-to-back World Series berths.
Houston of course won this year, but all of his success had come after the Astros had been caught stealing signs.
He brought positive change to the Astros organization after the scandal soured their reputation.
But that didn’t stop Crane from making the decision to let him go.
Crane though is still in the process of searching for a new general manager.
For now, Assistant GM Bill Firkus is filling the role.
It’s possible that the Astros could promote him to the role.
David Stearns, who recently stepped down from his position as president of baseball operations for the Milwaukee Brewers, is also available.
