Astros stars Carlos Correa, Jose Altuve donate 25,000 meals to families in need
Houston Astros stars Carlos Correa and Jose Altuve are stepping up as their city deals with the effects of a horrible winter storm.
The duo donated $50,000 to help feed children affected by the weather, according to KHOU 11. The donation will provide more than 25,000 meals for families in need.
"It has been extremely sad to witness our city of Houston suffering from lack of food and water, and so many families with children experiencing cold and hunger," Correa said.
Correa and Altuve aren't the only Astros players to step up, either. Third baseman Alex Bregman, in partnership with the Astros Foundation and Brothers Produce, donated 18,000 cases of water to be handed out at the Astros Youth Academy.
Pitcher Lance McCullers also donated $150,000, including 400,000 bottles of water that will be distributed by the Houston Food Bank.
The Astros' donations come while the team is in West Palm Beach, Florida, for spring training.
