At least three injured in shooting outside Nationals Park

Saturday's game between the Washington Nationals and San Diego Padres was suspended in the sixth inning after a shooting outside Nationals Park.

The shooting was an exchange between people in two cars. It left three people injured, the Metropolitan Police Department said, according to ESPN. One of the people shot was a woman attending Saturday's game. She was shot while outside the stadium.

Two people who were in one of the cars later walked into a hospital with gunshot wounds and were being questioned by police. Investigators were still trying to locate the second vehicle involved in the shooting.

The gunshots caused a chaotic scene inside Nationals Park. Players quickly exited the field and went to their respective clubhouses while some fans took cover in the dugouts.

Later that night, Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. took to Twitter to express his concern for the fans and his appreciation for law enforcement officials.

The Padres led the Nationals 8-4 when the game was suspended. The remainder of the contest will be played Sunday afternoon, followed by a regularly scheduled game. According to ESPN, there will be an increased police presence at Sunday's game.
