Earlier this week, the Baltimore Orioles suffered multiple pieces of bad news on the pitching front. They learned that both Kyle Bradish and John Means likely won't be available for Opening Day as Bradish is dealing with a UCL sprain and Means is delayed because of discomfort in his elbow earlier this offseason.

As a result of the pitching woes, the O's could re-engage in trade talks with the Miami Marlins, according to MLB Insider Bob Nightengale.

– The Baltimore Orioles, who had extensive talks with the Miami Marlins about starter Jesus Luzardo during the winter, could get back in touch with the news that Kyle Bradish will open the season on the IL and John Means is questionable for opening day.

Once the Orioles acquired Corbin Burnes in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers it was expected they would be done adding, but perhaps these injuries could spur them into action again. Baltimore won 101 games last year, has World Series expectations, and can't really afford a slow start in a loaded American League East.

Luzardo, a 26-year-old lefty, went 10-10 last year for the Marlins and boasts one of the best arms in all of baseball. He had a 3.58 ERA as the Marlins got to the playoffs as a National League wild card team.

He made his major league debut in 2019 with the Oakland Athletics and is 23-28 lifetime with a 4.18 ERA. He's under control through 2026 and despite the acquisition of Burnes, the O's still have a top farm system capable of completing just about any trade.
