Ben Zobrist's 2016 Cubs World Series ring going up for auction
When the Chicago Cubs won the World Series in 2016, they got key contributions from just about everyone in the lineup. One of the most important guys to their championship run, though, was Ben Zobrist.
Zobrist was named World Series MVP after slashing .357/.419/.500 in the championship round with two RBI on 10 hits, including a double in the 10th inning of Game 7 against the Cleveland Indians to drive in pinch-runner Albert Almora Jr. in an 8-7 victory. It marked the Cubs their first World Series championship since 1908.
Now you can own a piece of Cubs' history if you have a boatload of money.
Heritage Auctions announced Friday that Zobrist's 2016 World Series ring is set to hit the auction block in their August Platinum Auction.
It's unclear what the ring might sell for, but it should go for a high price given the fact that it was one of the most iconic World Series wins ever. It's also unknown why Zobrist is parting ways with his ring. He spent four seasons with the Cubs, and all of them were productive.
The 40-year-old also won a title with the Kansas City Royals in 2015 and made the All-Star Game three times. He finished his career with a .266 batting average, 167 home runs and 768 RBI in 14 seasons.
