Blue Jays tie Fenway Park record with eight home runs in win over Red Sox

The Toronto Blue Jays had arguably their best game of the season against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday.

The Jays hit eight home runs in an 18-4 win over the Red Sox, a Fenway Park record for a road team. The Baltimore Orioles hit a record seven blasts in Boston in 1967, according to Alex Speier of The Boston Globe.

Toronto was powered by homers from Teoscar Hernandez (two), Bo Bichette, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Cavan Biggio, Marcus Semien, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Rowdy Tellez.

Guerrero's home run was his MLB-leading 21st of the season.

Boston's pitching staff has struggled mightily in its first three games against Toronto, allowing a whopping 30 runs. After Sunday's loss, manager Alex Cora admitted the team's pitching staff has a lot of work to do.

The Red Sox are second in the AL East with a 39-27 record. Sunday's showing on the mound had fans pleading for ace Chris Sale to return a little early from Tommy John surgery.
