Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. turned heads with his new haircut that he got ahead of the team’s game against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday.

With the Blue Jays struggling so far this season, maybe Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was trying to turn the tide as his team was trying to avoid a sweep at the hands of the Boston Red Sox. Ultimately that did not work, as the Red Sox came away with a 7-3 win in the series finale.

On an individual level, Guerrero has been a solid player this season. It is not anywhere near the level that he was at during the 2021 season, when he was in the MVP conversation in the American League, but Guerrero has not necessarily been the problem with this year’s Blue Jays.

This season, Guerrero is batting .278 with an on-base percentage of .356 and seven home runs for a 123 wRC+, according to FanGraphs. He is also at 1.0 WAR to this point in the season. You would like to see more power from a hitter of his pedigree, but he has been a positive on offense for the Blue Jays.

Toronto is off on Thursday before heading to Cleveland for a weekend series with the Guardians, who are atop the American League Central. The Blue Jays are 35-39 at this point in the season, and if they fall further below .500, they could become sellers with the MLB Trade Deadline approaching in just over a month. Guerrero could be one of the names on the move, as he has just one more year of arbitration in 2025 before becoming an unrestricted free agent.

It will be interesting to track Guerrero’s performance for the foreseeable future ahead of the deadline and after his change in hairstyle. Not that the hairstyle means anything in regard to that, but it could be a fun storyline. Regardless, there were some good reactions to the haircut.

MLB fans react to Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s new hairstyle

In an unsurprising development, fans had a variety of reactions to the new look. Let’s get to some of the best ones.

“the aura has vanished,” @therealbink1 said.

“He wants to be a Yankee, we don’t want him,” @LizLemon5759 said.

“Fresh cut for his arrival in San Francisco,” @BayAreaTrev said.

“He’s a Yankee confirmed,” @adamgonzdesign said.

“1-5 1 K 5 LOB So far it’s not the hair,” @pnaught13 wrote.

Clearly people are very into the trade rumors as the Blue Jays fell to four games below .500. It is unsurprising to see the New York Yankees mentioned given the hole at first base after Anthony Rizzo’s injury. There are also some fans who just seem to not like the look.

Regardless of what Guerrero’s hair looks like, it will not matter to the fans if he hits well.
