Much like the San Diego Padres as a whole this season, Rougned Odor's year thus far has been a rollercoaster and he had trending upwards as of late. Since near the beginning of May, he shook off a very rough first month and finally found a solid rhythm.

This past month saw him bat around .281 and come up with hits when the Friars needed him most. Odor has become one of the more important guys at the end of the Padres' lineup alongside names such as Ha-Seong Kim, Trent Grisham, and Matt Carpenter. If I were Odor, I would take it personally that so many people are saying that San Diego's batting depth will be their demise.

Multiple players within the Friars organization have detailed Odor's leadership and veteran presence as outstanding so early into the year. He has already made his mark so early onto some young players. The talent never fades with a guy like him.

Unfortunately, the 29-year-old did sustain a groin injury when he was running around the bases in a Friday night outing against the Cubs and fear struck the franchise once again seeing that they just barely welcomed Manny Machado back.

However, team manager Bob Melvin is not too worried about this one.

“Way better than I thought he’d doing,” Melvin said of Odor’s status Saturday afternoon. “I thought it would be an IL for sure today and (the training staff) is saying there’s a chance he could be available at some point in time here the next couple days. Each and every day will tell the tale, but I think they are going to get him out here (on the field) and see if he can do some baseball stuff, maybe hit in the cage."

Prayers up for Odor!
