The Boston Red Sox last week faced the Baltimore Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays, Pittsburgh Pirates, Minnesota Twins, and Atlanta Braves. They went 2-2-1 beating the Orioles and Twins and losing to the Pirates and Blue Jays, and they tied the Braves. They finished Grapefruit League play 17-12-3. They also had two exhibition tune-up games against the Texas Rangers and they won both games 9-2 and 4-1.

Boston Red Sox Top 10 Prospects Recap

SS – Marcelo Mayer

Mayer last week played in one game, and he went 0-3. He finished the spring hitting .250 with a .750 OPS; he had a double. He will start the season at Double-A Portland.

OF – Roman Anthony

Anthony last week played in one game and went 0-3. He finished this spring hitting .333 with a .833 OPS; he had two walks and two runs scored. He will start 2024 with Double-A Portland.

C – Kyle Teel

Teel finished the spring going 0-2. He will play at Double-A Portland to start in 2024.  

OF/SS – Ceddanne Rafaela

Rafaela last week went 4-16 with a double, two RBI, two runs scored, and three stolen bases. He finished the spring hitting .270 with a .827 OPS; he had six doubles, three home runs, ten RBI, eight runs scored, four walks, and five stolen bases. He will start 2024 as the center fielder for the Red Sox.

2B – Nick Yorke

Yorke finished this spring hitting .091 with a .322 OPS; he had two runs scored, and three walks. He will start in 2024 at Double-A Portland.

OF – Miguel Bleis

Bleis didn’t play at Fort Myers this spring. He will start in 2024 with Single-A Salem.

RHP – Wikelman Gonzalez

Gonzalez in two games this spring posted a 3.86 ERA, a 2.57 WHIP, and five strikeouts in 2.1 innings. He will pitch at Double-A Portland to start in 2024.

RHP – Richard Fitts

Fitts didn’t pitch in Grapefruit League play but did pitch against the Rangers on Tuesday going 3.1 innings giving up no one runs on two hits; he walked one and struck out three. He will start in 2024 at Triple-A Worcester.

SS/2B – Mikey Romero

Romero didn’t play at Fort Myers. He will start at High-A Greenville.

RHP – Luis Perales

Perales didn’t pitch at Fort Myers. He will start at High-A Greenville.

Week Ahead:

This coming week the Boston Red Sox are starting the season on West Coast starting with a four-game series against the Seattle Mariners. The Red Sox Triple-A affiliate the Worcester Red Sox will kick off their season on Friday against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs who are the Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies and they will feature RHP Mick Abel who is the 44th overall prospect by ITD and the Phillies second-ranked prospect by ITD, and RHP Griff McGarry who is the Phillies seventh-ranked prospect by ITD.
