The Boston Red Sox picked up a 10-3 win over the Chicago White Sox last night. This victory started their four-game series. The Red Sox have won four of their last five games. They will have their ace, Garrett Crochet, on the mound today for game two. Crochet in his previous start went 7.1 innings giving up one run on one hit. He walked one and struck out 11 against this same White Sox team. The White Sox will counter with Shane Smith who last time out against the Red Sox went six innings giving up two runs on five hits. He walked two and struck out three.

Ahead of today’s game, the Red Sox are activating reliever Liam Hendriks off the injured list. Hendriks is on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation. He’s made three appearances with two of those coming as starts between Triple-A Worcester and Double-A Portland. He has a 0.00 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and five strikeouts in three innings. The Red Sox are optioning last night’s starter Hunter Dobbins to Triple-A Worcester. Dobbins went six innings giving up two runs, one earned on three hits. He didn’t issue a walk and struck out six.

Liam Hendriks

Hendriks last season pitched at Portland and Worcester making six appearances with a 0.00 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP, and three strikeouts in five innings. He hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since 2023 when he was with the White Sox. In five games that season he went 2-0 with a save, a 5.40 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and three strikeouts in five innings. Hendriks has 116 career saves with a 3.82 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP, and 727 strikeouts in 650 innings.
