Brandy Halladay, wife of Hall of Fame pitcher Roy Halladay, responds to report of deadly plane crash

On Wednesday, the National Transportation Safety Board released a damning report regarding the plane crash that killed Hall of Fame starting pitcher Roy Halladay.

The following day, Brandy Halladay, Roy's wife, released a public reply.

Per the Associated Press, Roy Halladay "had amphetamine levels about 10 times therapeutic levels in his blood along with a high level of morphine and an anti-depressant that can impair judgment" while he performed risky aerial maneuvers ahead of the accident that killed him on Nov. 7, 2017.

Brandy responded to that report through comments released by Major League Baseball

"Yesterday’s NTSB report on Roy’s accident was painful for our family, as it has caused us to relive the worst day of our lives. It has reinforced what I have previously stated, that no one is perfect. Most families struggle in some capacity and ours was no exception. We respectfully ask that you not make assumptions or pass judgement. Rather, we encourage you to hug your loved ones and appreciate having them in your lives. As a family, we ask that you allow Roy to rest in peace."

In January 2018, A.J. Perez of USA Today reported that Roy Halladay, an eight-time All-Star, had high concentrations of morphine and amphetamine, along with an antidepressant, a sleeping aid and alcohol, in his system at the time an autopsy was completed.

"It was definitely not safe for him to fly an airplane," forensic pathologist Burr Hartman told USA Today at the time.

Roy Halladay won a pair of Cy Young Awards during his career, one with the Toronto Blue Jays and another with the Philadelphia Phillies. In 2019, he was posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame. Brandy accepted the honor in July of that year.
