Braves' Joc Pederson explains why he 'went for it' and decided to wear pearls: 'Shooters shoot'

Joc Pederson added another championship ring to his jewelry collection when the Atlanta Braves topped the Houston Astros to win the World Series on Nov. 2, but still, everybody wants to talk about his now-famous pearl necklace.

The 29-year-old outfielder, who previously won the 2020 World Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers, appeared on "The Drew Barrymore Show" via Zoom after an audience member asked Barrymore and Ross Mathews for advice on how to wear her pearls the right way.

Pederson received a standing ovation when he was introduced, and then he explained how and why he decided to start wearing pearls during games.

"I always thought they kind of looked good," the All-Star said. "I saw Justin Bieber and Machine Gun Kelly, I think, wear them to the ESPYs or something, and I don't know, they're on top of their style. So, I reached out to my jeweler and wanted to change things up a little bit. I think the white looks good with the jerseys, honestly. Better than the gold chain or the black. So I just went for it. Shooters shoot.

"They were making fun of me, for sure, but it's alright," Pederson continued, referencing his teammates. "I thought they looked good, and I think that's all that matters, and I think they were probably pretty shocked when the Braves and Atlanta kind of took it by storm and everyone started wearing pearls. So then, I think, a couple guys asked me actually, they said, 'Oh, you know, I actually kind of like that. Where'd you get those from?'"

Pederson rocked his pearl necklace one last time at Atlanta's championship parade last Friday before sending them to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.

But he apparently had another one on standby, as he was donning a pearl necklace on "The Drew Barrymore Show." Watch the segment below.
