In a move that will be overlooked by most, the Braves announced today that they have outrighted Alex Dickerson to Gwinnett.

Earlier this week, the Braves were forced to Designate Dickerson for Assignment to make room for Ronald Acuña. I wasn’t thrilled, because it gave every other team the opportunity to claim him, but he cleared waivers, which allowed the Braves to stash him as organization depth.

That might not seem too important considering Dickerson has accumulated -0.4 WAR so far this season and hit just .121. However, I still think he could play an important role on this team if injuries begin to pile up. Dickerson was hitting the ball hard; it just kept finding someone’s glove. Over the course of a full season, his luck will turn around. Keeping him in the organization could pay substantial dividends down the road.
