Braves to allow 100% capacity at Truist Park beginning next month

Truist Park will begin packing in fans next month.

The Atlanta Braves announced Wednesday that fans will be allowed back to the ballpark at 100% capacity beginning May 7 against the Philadelphia Phillies. Modified health and safety measures will remain in place, the Braves said. Masks are still required unless actively eating or drinking.

"We have had great success welcoming our fans back safely to Truist Park," Braves president and CEO Derek Schiller said in a statement. "Our outdoor environment, the demand from our season ticket holders, and fans to watch us play in person plus safety measures which are in place make it feel that now is the right time to get back to full capacity at Truist Park."

The news comes after the CDC relaxed guidelines for fully vaccinated people earlier this week. While masks aren't required in most outdoor settings, the CDC still recommends wearing a mask in crowded spaces.

The Texas Rangers were the first team to allow 100% capacity for a single game when they hosted the Toronto Blue Jays for their home opener in early April. They reduced capacity after the opener.
