On Tuesday night against the Chicago Cubs, Brewers first basemen Rowdy Tellez tied a franchise record. His two-run homer in the first inning marked his 10th consecutive hit going for extra bases.

Tellez is now tied with Ryan Thompson for the most consecutive extra base hits in a row. Thompson accomplished the feat in 2002 during a stretch of games from Aug. 22-Sept. 1.  If Tellez can manage one more extra base hit he will become the franchise leader.

For Tellez, this streak started on June 18.  During this stretch, he has hit seven home runs, three doubles and collected 17 RBI.  This year, he has been a big run producer in the middle of the Brewers lineup.

Christian Yelich also joined an elite group on Tuesday night against the Cubs

Also in the first inning, Christian Yelich stole his 150th career base. This placed him in an elite group of active players who have recorded at least 150 home runs and 150 stolen bases. The Brewers just happen to have two of those players.

Yelich has been stealing a lot more bases since becoming the leadoff hitter. His ability to get on base and then get into scoring position has been a huge asset to the Brewers offense, not to mention he is also collecting a lot more base hits and his batting average has been consistently climbing over the last month.

The Brewers will take on the Cubs in the series finale on Wednesday afternoon. Monday’s game ended with a Victor Caratini walk-off home run and the Cubs took Game 2. It would be nice if the Brewers can win the rubber match against their division rival.
