Brewers OF Christian Yelich giving away 10,000 tickets for series vs. Cardinals

There are many ways a star baseball player can show fans they are appreciated. Why not do so by giving away thousands of tickets for free?

That's what Milwaukee Brewers slugger Christian Yelich is doing -- purchasing 10,000 tickets for an upcoming home series against the rival St. Louis Cardinals and giving them to fans for free.

"The fans are a big part of what we have accomplished this season," Yelich said in a statement, via ESPN. "We want American Family Field to be rocking for that last homestand. And we want to give back in a way that shows how much we all appreciate the enthusiasm and support of the best fans in baseball."

The Brew Crew are enjoying the tail end of a very successful 2021 campaign, sitting high atop the NL Central standings. Even with the Cards sitting 13.5 games behind them in the division, their weekend series in Milwaukee holds the opportunity for the Brewers to officially clinch their playoff berth.

The tickets will be made available to fans at 11:00 a.m. ET on Wednesday.
