Brewers place OF Hunter Renfroe on 10-day IL with hamstring strain
The Milwaukee Brewers have placed outfielder Hunter Renfroe on the 10-day injured list with a strained right hamstring.
Renfroe told the press Tuesday he was heading to the injured list, adding that there isn't a set timetable for his return.
"It could be ten days, could be four weeks, we don't know. Hopefully, it's ten days," Renfroe told the media on Tuesday.
In 39 games for the Brewers this season, Renfroe is batting .266 with a .303 on-base percentage and a .503 slugging percentage. The 30-year-old has 38 hits, nine home runs, and 19 RBI in 155 plate appearances.
The Brewers acquired Renfroe from the Boston Red Sox this offseason in exchange for outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. and two minor leaguers.
Renfroe played in 144 games last season for the Red Sox, slashing .259/.315/.501 with 31 home runs and 96 RBI.
Milwaukee selected infielder/outfielder Mark Mathias from Triple-A Nashville to fill Renfroe's roster spot.
Mathias, 27, played in 16 games for the Brewers last season. In 36 plate appearances, Mathias posted a .278 batting average, with ten hits and four RBI.
