Earlier today, the Braves announced a plethora of roster moves surrounding some of their injured relievers. Jesse Chavez is back with the major-league club after his rehab assignment last week with the Stripers. In addition, Nick Anderson, Collin McHugh, and Daysbel Hernandez are now set to begin their rehab assignments with the Stripers.

With a couple of weeks left in the season, Jesse Chavez has a fantastic opportunity to make the postseason roster, especially since nobody else seems to want to take control of those final bullpen spots. However, don’t count out Nick Anderson either. Before Tuesday’s game against the Phillies, Brian Snitker said he has been impressed with the progression of both Chavez and Anderson.

The back-end of Atlanta’s bullpen has left a lot to be desired of late, but those concerns will be eased in a big way if Jesse Chavez and Nick Anderson can look like they did before their injuries.

Chavez was amid a career year, boasting a minuscule 1.55 ERA over 31 appearances with a career-high 11.2 K/9. Meanwhile, Nick Anderson was one of Brian Snitker’s most reliable setup men, boasting a 3.06 ERA, 3.09 FIP, and 9.2 K/9 over 35 appearances. Even getting one of them back to form before the playoffs would be a huge boost for the Braves bullpen.
