The St. Louis Cardinals will be making changes this offseason and they likely won't just be on the roster.

After winning just 71 games in 2023, changes need to be made. St. Louis knows this and has said all of the right things so far this offseason. The Cardinals already have made it clear they will be pursuing starting pitching and have hinted that the club will increase its payroll this offseason as the club looks to get back on track.

On top of the roster building, there even has been rumblings that Cardinals legend Yadier Molina could return to the club in some capacity as a coach. While it's unclear exactly what role he would play, it sounds like it is a real possibility. Molina himself even spoke about the possibility in a recent interview with El Vocero de Puerto Rico.

"We hope that if something happens, it will happen soon, and if not, then I would be willing to continue helping them when they need me while I am here in Puerto Rico," Molina said. "They have the knowledge of my willingness (to take a position in management or the coaching staff)."

A move to bring Molina back into the fold certainly would make sense. Cardinals catcher Willson Contreras thrived offensively in 2023 but there were questions about his defensive play. If Molina was brought back into the fold he could work directly with Contreras to help improve his defense while also helping to serve as a leader overall for the club.

St. Louis has plenty of talent on the roster and is expected to be active this offseason looking to add more. Bringing Molina back to the club to help lead wouldn't hurt in the slightest.
