The St. Louis Cardinals are expected to be extremely busy this offseason and even could add to its front office.

The biggest question mark the Cardinals currently have is on the roster. Who will be in the starting rotation in 2024? St. Louis needs to answer this big question in a major in free agency. The Cardinals have said all of the right things so far this offseason and seemingly will be spending big.

While roster holes are the biggest question marks surrounding the club, they may even consider adding former Red Sox chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom to the front office on an "advisory basis," according to Major League Baseball insider Peter Gammons.

"Family, ever important for Bloom, was a concern for Bloom, but there are rumblings that he could go to St. Louis on an advisory basis," Gammons said. "He’s earned as much family time as possible."

Bloom joined the Red Sox's front office as the club's chief baseball officer in 2019 after spending much of his professional career in the Tampa Bay Rays' organization. The Red Sox have struggled at the big league level over the last two seasons, but Bloom completely rebuilt the club's farm system and now it ranks as one of the best in baseball.

Bringing Bloom into the fold in some capacity would be a solid move. The Cardinals had one of the worst seasons in team history in 2023, so anything could help. Bloom had success with the Rays and although he was fired from the Red Sox, did take the team in a positive direction. Why not give him a chance as an advisor?
