The St. Louis Cardinals need some help in the bullpen and could turn to a surprising hurler.

St. Louis has made it known that it is looking to improve the bullpen this offseason and one player who the club reportedly has shown interest in is former Los Angeles Angels, Boston Red Sox, and Los Angeles Dodgers hurler Ryan Brasier, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Derrick Goold.

"The Cardinals have been one of the teams to explore signing right-hander Ryan Brasier after his breakout second half with the Dodgers," Goold said. "They are not alone; the veteran has drawn interest from a handful of contending teams, and that reportedly includes his most recent team.

"Brasier, 36, struggled with Boston at the start of the year to a 7.29 ERA in 20 games, and then LA signed him to a minor league deal. In 38 2/3 innings for the Dodgers, Brasier had a 0.70 ERA to go with 38 strikeouts. With the Red Sox, he threw 50% fastballs and exactly zero cutters. For LA, he threw 128 cutters and 26% fastballs."

Brasier was cut by Boston last season but completely turned things around with the Dodgers. The 36-year-old made 39 appearances with Los Angeles in 2023 and logged an eye-popping 0.70 ERA and 38-to-10 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

The righty spent the last five-plus seasons in Boston before being let go in 2023. Brasier was a part of the 2018 World Series-winning club in Boston and has a career 3.88 ERA in seven big league seasons.
