Today, December 1, marks a birthday for two former MLB players.

Hall-of-Famer Larry Walker and star outfielder Reggie Sanders are each celebrating their birthdays today.

Walker turns 56 today.

The durable slugger came up with the Montreal Expos in 1989 and played there until joining the Colorado Rockies in 1995.

Walker was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in 2004 and retired after the 2005 season.

The 56-year-old posted a 72.7 WAR and hit for a lifetime .313 average.

Sanders is turning 55 today.

The slugger earned an All-Star nod and also won a World Series with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The two were teammates in St. Louis in 2004 and 2005.

On Twitter, Jim Hayes of Bally Sports Midwest, the TV home of the Cardinals, wished these two greats a Happy Birthday.

Sanders posted a 39.8 career WAR and hit a grand total of 305 home runs.

He began his career with the Cincinnati Reds before brief stops with the San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves, Diamondbacks, San Francisco Giants, and Pittsburgh Pirates.

Sanders and Walker were key contributors on the Cardinals World Series team in 2004.

That team won 105 games during the regular season, the most by a Cardinals team since 1942.

The Cardinals won 100 games the next year, but fell short in the NLCS.

Both Walker and Sanders departed.

Sanders played two more seasons, finishing his career with the Cardinals’ Interstate 70 rivals, the Kansas City Royals.

Walker was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2021.

The Canada native was a five-time All-Star, a seven-time Gold Glove Award winner, an MVP, a three-time batting champion, and a three-time Silver Slugger.
