Spring Training is going to be here before we know it.

Things will kick off in February with pitchers and catchers reporting to camp first before the rest of the club. The St. Louis Cardinals are in an interesting spot. There should be a lot of excitement swirling around the club.

St. Louis entered the offseason needing to add three pitchers and did just that. The Cardinals signed Sonny Gray, Lance Lynn, and Kyle Gibson to bolster the rotation and also added a few intriguing hurlers to improve the bullpen.

The Cardinals also get some good news. Utility man Tommy Edman is expected to be the club's starting center field at least to kick off the season, but it hasn't been a typical offseason for him to this point.

Edman had wrist surgery in October and has been recovering throughout the offseason, but he said he should be ready to go for Opening Day, according to Belleville News Democrats' Jeff Jones.

"Edman says he may be slightly delayed on the hitting side heading into camp," Jones said. "Going through a progression. He expects to be ready for Opening Day, but hasn’t had any bat-to-ball contact (other than whiffle balls in his rehab) this winter."

The 28-year-old took a solid step forward in 2023 and is expected to play a major role with the team in 2024, so it's good to hear that although the offseason hasn't gone as planned, he should be ready to go for Opening Day.
