The St. Louis Cardinals sent struggling outfielder Jordan Walker back to the minors on Wednesday.

Walker, 21, was optioned to Triple-A Memphis after batting .155 with no homers and four RBIs in 20 games.

The Cardinals' former top prospect was 3-for-27 with nine strikeouts over his last 11 games.

The 6-foot-6 Walker batted .276 with 16 homers and 51 RBIs in 117 games during his 2023 rookie season.

St. Louis also optioned Zack Thompson to Memphis and recalled fellow left-hander John King and infielder Jose Fermin in corresponding moves.
