Chad Green is no longer a free agent and has signed a two-year contract extension worth $21 million with the Toronto Blue Jays. Although Green only pitched in the late half of the regular 2023 season, Green pitched well after coming off of Tommy John surgery. This is an excellent signing for the Blue Jays, as Green will be a great pitcher in the bullpen in the 2024 season. It will be exciting to see him pitch for a full season for Toronto in 2024.

Chad Green, Blue Jays Exercise Two-Year Option

Green Machine

Right-handed pitcher Chad Green will be welcomed with open arms in the 2024 season. In 2023, Chad Green pitched 12 innings, allowed 12 hits, 10 runs, and seven of those earned. As well as, four walks, 16 strikeouts, and lowered his ERA to 5.25 with a 1.33 WHIP. Best of all, he will spend two more years with the Blue Jays.

Green was one of the pickups from the Blue Jays that has worked in their favor. Taking Green away from the Yankees was a steal, as Green has worn out Blue Jays hitters. It is rewarding that the Blue Jays don’t have to face him and that he can be used in critical situations. If there is one thing that Green has shown MLB, it is consistency. Although it is a small sample size, Green bounced back after his first start returning from Tommy John surgery. He showed consistency and found his groove, which came as no surprise. His career with the New York Yankees clearly drew attention to the Blue Jays, and it will be intriguing to see how he plays for an entire season with the Blue Jays. There’s no telling us that he won’t be successful and will impress us.

Green Is Back!

This contract extension is just one of the many exciting off-season news that fans will be receiving from baseball news. Congratulations to Green on signing a two-year extension with the Blue Jays and for showing us that he is capable of great skill as a bullpen pitcher. This contract extension should make him confident and proud, and we will be seeing a lot of Green in 2024. It will also be exciting to watch him pitch against his former team. The Blue Jays will face the Yankees in April, June, and August in 2024.
