Danny Mendick's bat is on fire down in Charlotte. Entering Saturday night's matchup with the Syracuse Mets, he slashed an impressive .327/.403/.818, with seven home runs and six doubles over 62 plate appearances in the young season.

Even more impressive, he entered the night after homering in four consecutive games. Mendick added on to that streak in the bottom of the fifth inning with a solo shot to deep left field to give the Knights a 6-1 lead over the Mets. His eighth long ball of the season.

Danny Mendick, a familiar face to White Sox fans, has spent most of his career with the organization. However, his journey took a detour in 2022 when he suffered a season-ending injury and was eventually released by the Sox.

Mendick then joined the New York Mets for the 2023 season, seeking a fresh start. Over 33 games with the Mets he slashed a lackluster .185/.232/.277 with just four extra-base hits and spent most of the season in New York's minor league system.

As the offseason approached, he found himself a free agent once again. The White Sox extended an invitation to Mendick to join them as a non-roster invitee for Spring Training, offering a chance to reunite with his former team. Despite his best efforts, Mendick ultimately did not secure a spot on the Opening Day roster, leaving his future with the organization uncertain. He reported to Charlotte and has been absolutely on fire since.

With the way he is swinging the bat, and the White Sox putrid offense, a call-up to the big leagues for the 30-year-old veteran middle infielder seems to be in the realm of possibilities rather soon.
