Remember former Chicago Cubs' legend and 2016 World Series MVP Ben Zobrist? Of course, you do! According to Bruce Levine of 670 The Score and Marquee Sports Network, the Cubs are bringing Zobrist back in an ambassador role.

Cubs' President of Baseball Operations Jed Hoyer mentioned earlier Tuesday that Zobrist has already served the team in a few unofficial roles and would like to have him at Spring Training as a guest instructor.

The former super-utility player was well-known as a great teammate during his playing days. He came up with some of the most clutch hits in Cubs’ history and adequately played nearly every position on the diamond.

When Zobrist spent time away from the team in 2019, his absence was certainly felt. Along with his defensive versatility, Zobrist was a solid baserunner. He didn’t steal many bases once he reached his mid-30s, but he was smart. The Cubs have struggled with mental lapses and poorly timed aggressiveness on the basepaths all season.

Having Zobrist in an ambassador role and potentially as a Spring Training instructor can only mean good things. Maybe he doesn’t want a full-time coaching role. However, he’s a three-time All-Star, World Series MVP, and two-time World Series Champion. He also competed in the playoffs in eight of his 14 seasons as a big leaguer.

The Chicago Cubs are currently taking on the Cincinnati Reds and looking to finish the season strong. Ben Zobrist's veteran mentorship, winning knowledge, and baseball smarts could help many young players moving forward.
