The Chicago Cubs played eight games to wrap up Cactus League play this past week. They finished way week 1-7-1. They Beat the Colorado Rockies, tied Seattle, and then lost to the Oakland A’s, San Fransico Giants twice, Milwaukee Brewers, and St. Louis Cardinals twice. Not exactly how you want to wrap up the spring before heading into opening day, but let’s see how the kids did!!

OF – Pete Crow-Armstong

Armstrong did not play in any games with the Cubs this past week and will be starting the year in Triple-A with the Iowa Cubs. He finished the spring slashing .138/.198/.241 with an OPS of .435 in 12 games this spring. In those 12 games this spring he did have three doubles, one RBI, and three stolen bases.

P – Cade Horton

Horton is not pitching for the Cubs in Cactus League play. Horton will open the year with the Tennessee Smokies in Double-A

OF – Owen Cassie

Owen Cassie played in two games this week going 2-7 with two runs scored, one home run, and four RBIs in two games. He finished the spring slashing .333/.409/.564 with an OPS of .973 this spring. He had three doubles, two home runs, two stolen bases, and 11 RBI in the spring. He will start the year with the Iowa Cubs in Triple-A.

1B – Michael Busch

Busch played in five games this week going 4-12 with a home run, three RBI and a run scored. He finished the spring slashing .235/.333/.529 with an OPS of .863. He will start the year as the Cubs starting first baseman on Opening Day.

OF – Kevin Alcantara

Alcantara played in two games this week. He went 1-7 during the week with one double. He will open the year with the Tennessee Smokies in Double-A.

3B – Matt Shaw

Shaw played in two games this week going 2-7 with one run scored, one home run, and one RBI. He finished the spring slashing .200/.275/.457 with a .732 OPS on the Spring. Shaw will start the year with the Double-A Tennessee Smokies this year.

2B – James Triantos

Triantos did not play in any games this week for the Cubs. Triantos will start the year in Double-A with the Tennessee Smokies. He finished the spring with one hit in six at-bats.

P – Jordan Wicks

Wicks started one game this week and pitched four innings giving up three hits, one earned run, two walks, and four strikeouts. Wicks will start the year in the starting rotation for the Cubs after pitching 17.1 innings this spring with a 2.60 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 12 strikeouts, and two walks.

P – Ben Brown

Brown made one start this week going four innings, giving up two hits, one walk, and striking out three batters. Brown will start the year with the Triple-A Iowa Cubs this season. He finished the Spring with a 0.90 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP for the Cubs.

1B – Moises Ballesteros

Ballesteros did not play this week for the Cubs. In four games played, he went hitless this spring. He will start the year in Double-A with the Tennessee Smokies.

Week Ahead:

The Chicago Cubs will kick their season off with a three-game series against the defending World Series champion Texas Rangers. The Cubs Triple-A affiliate Iowa Cubs will open the season on the road against the Omaha Strom chasers the Triple-A Affiliate for the Kansas City Royals.

  • Sunday 31st @ Omaha Storm Chasers 2:05 PM CDT
