After a fourth-place finish in 2023, Chicago White Sox manager Pedro Grifol hinted that there will be changes to his coaching staff in 2024.

Per Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times:

Pedro Grifol, asked about coaching staff for 2024: "There’s a few ideas I can’t share. It’s a very sensitive issue. We talk about the staff, we talk about people who have been in the game a long, long time. Unfortunately, this is a game that’s predicated on wins and losses."

Obviously, Grifol didn't reference what changes he's making or what changed he'd like to see, but after a 101-loss season, something's got to give.

The White Sox came into the year with massive expectations and were thought of as a playoff team, but it all disintegrated quickly. The White Sox dealt with injury and poor performance and ended up trading multiple veterans (Joe Kelly, Lance Lynn, Keynan Middleton, Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Lopez) at the trade deadline. They are set to embark on their second rebuild within the last five years.

The team also fired multiple levels of upper management this season and hired former infielder Chris Getz as the new general manager.

The Sox do have one true pillar to build around in outfielder Luis Robert, who was the team's lone All-Star this season. Beyond that, there's a lot of work for Getz and Grifol to do. They need to figure out what to do with Tim Anderson and Dylan Cease, and then need to see how aggressive they want to be in the free agent market.
