The Los Angeles Angels failed to get their first two games against the Kansas City Royals and will now look to take the rubber match from them on Sunday.

The Halos dropped their game on Saturday, 10-9, after allowing five runs in the late innings. The bullpen, who has been the constant for the Angels all season long, failed them in their latest contest. Angels closer and possible first-year All-Star Carlos Estévez was unavailable to pitch on Saturday after being ruled out by Halos skipper Phil Nevin so righty reliever Chris Devenski took his place, and it wasn't pretty.

Devenski came out with the blown save and the loss. Fatigue may have played a factor as he pitched in three of the last five days, but don't tell that to the 32-year-old veteran.

“I don’t believe in fatigue,” Devenski said. “I just didn’t get the job done. I let my team down so I gotta bounce back and go back out there tomorrow and work hard.”

Devenski dropped to 3-1 and went one inning allowing four hits, two earned runs, one strikeout and zero walks in 23 pitches.

It's a nasty feeling to have but he's confident he'll be better in his next go-round.

“I just didn’t get the job done,” Devenski said. “It’s gonna eat at me a little bit, but I’ll go back out there and prove what I got.”

The Halos and Chris will move past this and will try to take the weekend series from the Royals.
