Clayton Kershaw thinks Dodgers are unbeatable if team plays its best

The Los Angeles Dodgers got out to a tremendous start in the World Series, defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 8-3 in Game 1. Clayton Kershaw showed confidence on the mound, striking out eight batters in six innings. 

Kershaw's confidence may have given the Rays some bulletin-board material, though, as the left-hander made a pretty bold declaration after Game 1. 

"I mean, if we play at our best, no," Kershaw said after the game when asked if the Dodgers are beatable, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. "I think we are the best team, and I think our clubhouse believes that. So there's gonna be certain times where we get beat, and that happens. But as a collective group, if everybody's doing what they're supposed to be doing and playing the way they're supposed to, I don't see how that can happen."

The Dodgers proved they were the better team in Game 1, but there's still plenty of baseball left to be played. L.A. will need a solid outing from Tony Gonsolin in Game 2 on Wednesday if they want to put the Rays in an 0-2 hole, but Blake Snell is going to do everything he can to make sure that doesn't happen when he takes the mound for Tampa Bay. 

The Rays shouldn't be overlooked, either. Tampa Bay defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in the Wild Card Round, the New York Yankees in the Divisional Series and the Houston Astros in the Championship Series. Simply put, it wasn't easy for them to reach the World Series, and they're going to give L.A. everything they've got moving forward.

Kershaw's words may end up being true if the Dodgers win the Fall Classic, but the series may not end until next week, at the latest.
