The Chicago Cubs continue to make waves in Spring Training. The team's youth is showing up in a big way, the likes of Shota Imanaga and other new faces are continuing to make their debuts, and now an old friend will make his 2024 debut in the coming days.

According to The Athletic's Sahadev Sharma, Cody Bellinger is expected to make his spring debut on Wednesday as a designated hitter. The Cubs expect Bellinger to play this coming weekend, either Friday or Saturday to be more precise, in the field. Bellinger is expected to be the Opening Day centerfielder for the Cubs.

Bellinger's debut is a long-awaited debut for Cubs fans. After an agonizing offseason awaiting his return, Bellinger returned on a three-year, $80 million deal at the end of February.

In addition to Bellinger's return, Patrick Wisdom is still day-to-day with an injury that appears to not be healing the way the Cubs hoped. Wisdom has not suited up in Spring Training since Feb. 27 due to this mysterious injury.

Wisdom's injury is just one of a few injuries that have piled up for the Cubs. Most recently, Ian Happ is reportedly dealing with a hamstring strain. Now, it appears Wisdom might be off to a slow start for the rest of the spring as well.

After falling to the San Diego Padres on Monday, the Cubs are now 5-6 in Cactus League action. The Cubs will look to rebound and bounce back to .500 on Tuesday as they take on the Kansas City Royals at 7:05 pm CST.
