The 2023 Rawlings Gold Glove Award finalists were announced by MLB with the winners set to be unveiled on ESPN’s “Baseball Tonight” on Sunday, November 5 at 4:30 p.m. PT.

The winners for the nine primary positions were determined by votes from the 30 MLB managers and up to six coaches from each team from a pool of players in their league, excluding those on their own team. Those votes make up 75% of the selection total, with the other quarter being made up from the SABR Defensive Index.

The utility position, which was awarded for the first time in 2022, is determined by a specialized defensive formula created in a collaboration between Rawlings and SABR that is seperate from the traditional selection process.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are represented among the finalists by three players at four positions with Freddie Freeman at first base, David Peralta in left field and Mookie Betts up for the right field and utility spot.

All three players have already won a Gold Glove award in their careers, but none are considered the favorite to add to their collection.
